Book Review: Podcasting for Trainers and Educators

Author: Martin Wagner
Category: Multimedia & Design

I must admit that my expectations for Podcast books are not real high. The books I have read give a very glossy overview and not a whole lot of substance. Podcasting for Trainers and Educators certainly exceeded my expectations. Having chapters two and three at my fingertips made this a great reference book. The title should be Introducing Podcasts into your organization. I feel this title encompasses what this book is about. The best audience is someone looking to bring podcasting into their organization.

There are lots of real good podcast idea examples. You will quickly find one you like and move forward. What I do not like is it's recommendations on formats. The data in there is a little out of date. I believe that MPEG-4 is the way to go, but in reality. You need to produce multiple formats and give your audience a choice. That is where podcast workflow engines come into play for the enterprise. That is a whole different topic though. There is a lot of great research in the book and I will be using some of the facts at my next Podcast presentation.
