IU Web & Multimedia Community launches Mobile User Group with Presentation by Adobe’s Greg Rewis

Greg Rewis, Adobe Principal Worldwide Evangelist for Creative Suite Web Premium, will speak to IU from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 2. This event will coincide with the launch of the IU Web & Multimedia Community's new Mobile User Group.

Rewis' talk, titled "From Web to Moble to App in 60 seconds with Dreamweaver CS5.5," will touch on new technologies built into Dreamweaver to move the web from the desktop onto various devices and screen sizes, such as HTML5, CSS3 and Java Script. Rewis also will demo how to use CSS3 Media Queries to adapt the look of traditional web pages, and using jQuery Mobile framework to create a more "native" feel.

The IU Web & Multimedia Community's Mobile User Group will continue to pursue speakers on mobile topics, for future meetings. The user group joins the Design & Multimedia and Developers user groups. Joey Baird, manager of the Mobile User Group, is anxious to connect individuals who want to learn more about mobile development. On campus, Mobile Working Groups for application development, web for mobile and social networking also have been formed to help guide the IU community as it transitions into the mobile space.

"It's great we finally have a mobile user group going,” Baird said. “Tons of people are interested in getting into mobile development right now and the Mobile User Group will connect those people with the right tools and skills to get going."

Join other IU IT professionals, students and faculty in Bloomington in Wrubel Commmons at the Cyberinfrastructure Building (CIB), or in the Informatics & Communications Technology Complex, Room IT 497, at IUPUI. IU faculty, staff and students can download Dreamweaver and the rest of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 at http://iuware.iu.edu as part of the university's contract with Adobe.
